Can I run with a stroller, backpack, wheelchair, roller blades, bicycle, etc?
NO. The run is restricted to foot traffic ONLY, as per the City of New York, for reasons of safety and security.

What do I do with my backpack?
Check it with UPS. UPS will provide complimentary transport of participant’s backpack. (UPS will transport small bags or backpacks ONLY- please limit the size of your bag!) UPS trucks will be located near the start of the race and each truck will be numbered. Place your belongings on the truck that matches the last number of your bib number.

How will I reclaim my backpack after the race?
There is a tear off strip on your bib that is your baggage claim number. After the race you may reclaim your belongings from UPS, located on West Street in Manhattan.

Can I pick up my bib number on race day?
Yes, bib numbers can be picked up at the start of the race, at IS 142, but we request that you pick up your bib number prior to race day either at: Petrides School, 715 Ocean Terrace, Staten Island, Friday, 9/28, 8AM to 7PM, or Embassy Suites, 102 North End Ave, NY, NY, Saturday, 9/29, 10AM to 5PM.

Must I wear my number?
Yes, please display it on the front of your outermost garment.

What are the colored dots for that are on the bib numbers?
The dots indicate special categories: Red-Firefighters, Blue-Police Officers, Green-Military Personnel, Yellow- Participants who run faster than a 6 minute/mile pace.

Can I register on race day?
Yes, a registration booth will be staffed at IS 142, in Red Hook, Brooklyn. However, to improve your race day experience, we suggest you register in advance.

I am a fast runner. Can I have a front line position?
Runners predicting a pace faster than 6 minute/mile will be seeded in the front corral. A separate entrance (marked in yellow) will be at the front of the start line.

What time does the race start?
10 AM SHARP

Will water be available?
Yes, water stations will be located at the start, finish, and at a station at the end of the tunnel on the Manhattan side. Participants may also carry water bottles in the tunnel. We ask that you DO NOT discard those bottles in the tunnel.

Where can I park my car?
Public transportation is encouraged, but parking (fee charged) is available in the downtown area near the finish line. Free shuttle busses will transport participants from Versey Street in Manhattan to the start of the race in Brooklyn
